New Auction Seller Licensing Requirement Law Ohio HB321 Closed (#62681543)

Dear Bidders,

I would like to inform you that effective, September 13, 2022; Ohio HB321 goes into effect. This bill requires that all online sellers be licensed in the state of Ohio. Sellers have the option of becoming a live auctioneer or an auction firm. 

Most sellers will not call live auctions; so they will choose the auction firm license. For this license, one must pass a criminal background check, purchase a $50,000 surety bond payable to the state of Ohio, pass a test and apply for the license.  Future auctions on the website will show each seller's license number.  

Several sellers managed to obtain their license before today; while the rest are waiting for the next available test date on September 29th. In the next few weeks, bidders will see fewer auctions on the website as sellers complete the licensing requirements.  Bidders are not required to do anything different and should not notice any changes.
